| From July 1953 through
February 1954, the 3rd Marine Division was in Japan as strategic
reserve for Korea. Lt. Col. Rufus B. Thompson, Jr., USMC (Retired)
served as Regimental S-2 Officer (Intelligence), the regimental
liaison to the local Prefectural Counsel. He transferred to Korea
in February 1954 to join the 1st Marine Division. |
